I will start this post with this: Phil, in his sleep, said this (in a cynical voice), "Elmo? Like from Sesame Street?"
That is hilarious.
Okay, to seriousness. We are needing some prayers. As you probably know, both of us have been dreaming of youth ministry for a long time. Phil met with a guy with Youth for Christ last week, which seemed to line up with everything we've been dreaming about. Though that door seems to have been shut, it did get our passion burning again for the possiblity that we could enter our field RIGHT NOW instead of just working at Taco Bell or something. With Youth for Christ, one has to raise support. That was a lot to take in. Could we do that?
Wednesday we were presented with an opportunity to take part in what will be an amazing worship focused ministry- traveling for two months (at first) in an RV and ministering through music around the US. ...raising support. Still a lot to think about, but with my attending Seminary starting in the fall, it doesn't seem like this is the road for us either.
Today we met with our pastor at The Bridge. We shared our ideas and passion for youth ministries, and he shared with us a little of what The Bridge has planned for their student ministy in the upcoming year. Seriously, our hearts jumped. There would definitely be a place for us there, as well as provide a model for our own ministry dreams. Catch? We need to raise support. After three presentations of this idea, it's starting to sink in that this may be the next step for us.
So many questions and practicalities follow this that we are both left a little silent this afternoon. You're supposed to graduate with a degree and get a job and take care of yourself, right? But...this is our heart. We would appreciate your prayers today and in the following days simply for God's direction. We don't want to live our lives afraid of what God can't do; but don't want to jump His timing either.
Other news today: I'm going in for a drug test this afternoon (always exciting), and Phil bought me a sewing machine. I love Phil.
Thank you, friends, for reading and praying and ...being :)
